About the Park

Ranthambore National Park — a wild kingdom under an ancient fort

Ranthambore became a part of Project Tiger in 1973 and was declared a national park in 1980. Today, it forms the core of the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, covering approximately 1,334 sq. km. of protected forests, lakes, rocky hills, and grasslands that support a thriving ecosystem.

Located in Rajasthan's Sawai Madhopur district, the park combines rich biodiversity with a landscape shaped by history, making every safari more than just a wildlife excursion. This park is one of India's most celebrated wildlife destinations, known for its healthy Bengal tiger population and the dramatic backdrop of the centuries-old Ranthambore Fort.

Beyond tigers, the park is home to leopards, sloth bears, striped hyenas, marsh crocodiles, sambar deer, chital, nilgai, and over 300 bird species. This remarkable biodiversity and successful conservation efforts have made Ranthambore one of India's leading tiger reserves.
